When would a pet need this?
A pet displaying symptoms of joint disease, such as limping, stiffness, difficulty climbing stairs or other obstacles, joint swelling or pain, or joint abnormalities seen on radiographs, may be a candidate for arthroscopy. Arthroscopy is used to diagnose a wide variety of joint conditions and also to surgically treat some of these conditions, particularly developmental joint diseases (those occurring in growing animals).
Who performs it?
Surgeons have training in the techniques used in the procedure, as well as advanced knowledge of the orthopedic diseases that are diagnosed and treated in this way.
